Glyphwood Academy Is Open: A Storybook Academy for Homeschool Families

The doors of Glyphwood Academy are open. Step inside at glyphwood.com and you are in an old and gentle forest where learning leaves a mark. Kids ages 5 to 13 learn real lessons alongside a crew of woodland friends, and parents finally get one calm plan that works for every child at the table.

This is early access, and it is the best time to arrive. Founding families get in first, help shape what we build, and lock in founding member pricing. The site, the games and the first books are here now, and the Glyphwood app is coming fast.

Made by a homeschooling family of teachers

Glyphwood was built by a homeschooling family of teachers who live the kitchen table reality every day: three ages, one lesson, and a week that never goes to plan.

So everything in Glyphwood is built for real families. One story teaches every age at once. Plans bend when the week falls apart. Core learning needs no account, no screen and no internet connection. And the parent stays in charge, always. In Glyphwood's own words: "You're the teacher. We're the extra pair of hands."

This is what we love doing at Ultra Labs. Real experience at the kitchen table tells us what families need. The latest tools let us build it beautifully.

Welcome to the woods

At Glyphwood, the moment a child truly understands something, a glyph appears: a glowing symbol pressed into bark, stone or the pages of their Field Journal. Corners of the forest have gone dim, and every glyph a child earns lights the woods back up. No villains, nothing scary. Just wonder, and a real reason to keep going.

Kids are Wayfinders. Parents are Stewards. And the Academy lives inside the Heartwood, an ancient tree with a lantern glowing in every window and a promise carved over the door: "What you understand, you carry forever."

Pick your lodge

Every Wayfinder joins one of four lodges, and here is the best part: they choose it themselves. Nobody gets sorted.

  • Owl Hollow is for the curious, led by Quill the barn owl. "Ask the next question."
  • Fox Glen is for the clever, led by Tansy the fox. "Find another way."
  • Otter Creek is for the makers, led by Pip the otter. "Make something."
  • Bear Ridge is for the brave, led by Bramble the bear. "Keep going."

Lodges are families, not subjects, so every lodge walks every path. Find your child's lodge right now with the Glyph Trial, a six question quiz that takes about a minute.

One story, every age

Every unit opens with a short story the whole family reads together. Then each child dives into their own edition, built for their age:

  • Cub, ages 5 to 7
  • Explorer, ages 8 to 10
  • Wayfinder, ages 11 to 13

Same story. Same topic. Three levels of challenge, all following the same simple rhythm: teach, model, try, check. Your seven year old and your eleven year old learn side by side at the same table, and you run one school day instead of two.

The Glyphwood Atlas

The first adventure is The Glyphwood Atlas: A Family Geography Quest. Twelve units that take kids from their own front door out across the whole world, in three student editions plus a Teacher's Guide for you. Every book comes packed with a passport, journal pages, cut-out glyph stamps and a certificate to earn at the end. The Atlas is in final review and arriving soon, with a Nature and Field Science series right behind it.

Play right now

You do not have to wait to start:

  • Take the Glyph Trial and meet your lodge
  • Play 18 free learning games at glyphwood.com/play, across six subjects and all three age paths, with every glyph saved right on your device

The Steward's Desk is coming

The heart of the Glyphwood app is the Steward's Desk, an AI co-teacher made for parents. Picture a wise old writing desk full of drawers that always seem to hold exactly what you need. Give it one lesson and it builds plans for every age. Hit a rough week and it reshapes the plan around real life. And it keeps your records handled, so you can spend your energy on your kids instead of paperwork.

It is built to help the parent, never to replace them. It is real experience plus the newest tools, working for families. The Steward's Desk is in development now, alongside the app, Academy membership and seasonal lodge challenges.

Become a founding family

Join the waitlist and you become a founding family. You get first access to the app and the books, founding member pricing on the Academy, and a real say in what we build next.
